Purpose:
The Business Manager has full P&L accountability for the Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) business in Switzerland (about USD 30 million). S/he provides direct leadership to the IDS Sales and Technical Support team, partners with Marketing and Customer Service associates and is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and implementation plans to realize the opportunities.
The position sits at the center of BD's matrix organization and requires close collaboration with and coordination between the C&EE IDS teams and BD Switzerland businesses.
The Business Manager has a direct reporting line to the IDS Business Director C&EE. S/he is a member of the Swiss Leadership Team and the IDS C&EE Leadership Team. S/he leads a team of about 10 people.

The role can be based anywhere in Switzerland.

Responsibilities:

Business & Marketing Strategy:

  • With the guidance from Business Director IDS C&EE and IDS C&EE Marketing S/he creates, communicates and engages her/his team in the vision and strategy for IDS Switzerland

  • Captures and evaluates market trends, needs and opportunities in the country, recommends and drive implementation of respective commercial priorities/solution.

  • Leads the development and implementation of marketing and sales planning. Contribute to regional market development activities.

Strategy Execution / Commercial Implementation (P&L accountability):

  • Ensures the development of challenging but achievable operating plans and budgets for IDS in Switzerland

  • Proactively monitors the financial performance of the business and any deviations from critical project plans. Ensures implementation of any necessary contingency plans and/or corrective actions to effectively mitigate risks.

Customer relationship

  • Develops appropriate understanding of local customers’ needs through ongoing interaction with key accounts and through industry leaders.

  • Manages contacts with governmental institutions and key professional trade association and organizations.

Team and People Leadership

  • Provides leadership and coaches the IDS country organization to deliver results, improve skills and manage ongoing change.

  • Focus on attracting, retaining, motivating & developing talent.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of sales, marketing and business management experience and at least 3 years with leadership responsibility.

  • Track record of success in the medical devices market and / or preferably in the microbiology diagnostics and the blood collection field with an extensive network of KOL and scientific societies.

  • Ability to anticipates and translate vision into clear and realistic plans.

  • Fast learner who is able to quickly achieve a thorough understanding of the business opportunities for BD and adapt business models to a fast changing market and regulatory environment.

  • The successful candidate sets compelling goals and aggressive schedules for improvement, conveys a sense of urgency, and drives issues to closure.

  • Fluency in German & English is essential. French and Italian are optional

  • Ability and willingness to undertake travels (3-4 days a week as Co-travels) and if needed international trips.
